Applicants are invited to apply for the following position available at our Personal Care Home serving 120 elders from the city and community of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Casual Recreation Facilitator position – effective immediately
Reporting to the Life Enrichment supervisor, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, implements and evaluates both individual and group programs in order to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of the Elders.
- Set up and clean program areas as necessary and transport Elders to and from programs.
- Ability to be creative and innovative – implementing new programs and modifying programs to suit Elder needs and capabilities
- Maintain program and Elder records according to department policy.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to meet Elder needs.
- Active participation in committees, interdisciplinary care reviews and meetings as required
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner, adheres to infection control procedures and follows provincial WS&H guidelines/regulations.
- Attends in- service education when required.
- Adheres to “Standards of Employee Conduct” and Elder Bill of Rights in the Home.
- Required to pick up shifts as able
QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Recreational studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or equivalent

Previous experience in activities programming for the elderly is an asset

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
-
Strong organizing, planning, prioritizing, time management and multi-tasking skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete tasks in a timely manner.

MDS/computer skills

Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check ( including Criminal Background Check, Child and Adult Abuse Check)
