What We Do
This role resides within the Finance & Corporate Services (“FCS”) department of Fidelity Canada. FCS provides various services across the organization including strategy support, executive and business unit finance support, business analytics, financial planning and analysis, and corporate business initiatives.
As the Manager of Operational Excellence, you will report to the Director of Operational Excellence and will play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and optimizing processes within Fidelity Canada. Your expertise in Lean Six Sigma and pervious financial services exposure will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency, improving service quality, minimizing risk, and enhancing client outcomes. You will lead a team dedicated to implementing best practices and fostering a culture of excellence.
What You Will Do
Lead and Develop Staff
- Conduct regular coaching sessions with employees, providing direction and feedback, actively manage performance, and proactively address performance concerns
- Create a culture of continuous improvement within the Operational Excellence Team
- Provide mentorship and coaching to team members and stakeholders on Lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies.
- Set goals and work standards for the Operational Excellence Team
- Conduct annual goal setting by establishing clear and measurable goals, ensuring alignment and support of department strategy
- Work with HR Business Partners to develop talent management strategies to attract and retain talent
- Drive employee engagement by supporting and promoting people programs and enabling Fidelity’s culture
Operational Excellence Program Execution
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational improvements and ensure alignment with organizational and program level goals.
- Drive projects aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction, reducing cycle times, minimizing risk, and improving service delivery
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify innovative solutions for process improvements
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions
Technical Knowledge, Innovation, and Change Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with key resources in Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Operational teams
- Leverage current and evolving technologies in support of solutioning, and ideation
- Harness the available data around the firm and identify gaps where required data does not exist as part of cohesive strategy to use data to drive decision making on process reengineering and efficiency
Business Plan Execution
- Contribute to the creation of the annual business planning process, by providing strategic insights, anticipating environmental changes for the purposes of future proofing the team
- Develop strategic presentations to obtain buy-in and alignment from the executive team and key stakeholders
- Demonstrate strong business judgement with the ability to continue to drive to results despite changing priorities
- Makes decisions within scope while working within Fidelity’s risk management framework

- Proven track record in process reengineering and operational excellence
- Excellent analytical, root cause analysis and problem resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to drive transformational change and influence key stakeholders
- Excellent project and program management skills
- Outstanding communication, facilitation and negotiation skills
- Experience attracting, retaining and developing strong talent
- Flexibility, agility with experience collaborating across business verticals
- Proven leadership experience with a focus on developing and leveraging the capabilities of a high-performing team
What We’re Looking For
- Completion of University degree or equivalent experience
- 5 years of relevant experience in operational excellence/continuous improvement
- 3+ years of direct people leadership experience
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a must have
- PmP or Project Management experience and Change Management accreditation or exposure is an advantage
