About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and patient-focused Dental Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, the Dental Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate dental care. This position requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to infection control standards, and a positive attitude within a collaborative team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during a wide range of general dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, and prosthodontics
- Set up and clean treatment rooms before and after appointments
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with HARP regulations
- Record and update patient information in the dental software system
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative instructions
- Monitor and restock clinical supplies and materials
- Adhere to all applicable provincial regulations and infection prevention protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Completion of a recognized Dental Assisting program (Level I or II)
- NDAEB certification (for Level II assistants)
- Current HARP certification (mandatory)
- CPR certification (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
- A professional, team-first attitude and commitment to patient care
- Experience with dental software (e.g. Tracker, Dentrix, AbelDent, Paradigm) is an asset but not required
