Role

The position of Pettibone Operator within the Supply Chain department in Sherwood Park, AB supports logistics and yard operations by operating a Pettibone with grapples in a safe and appropriate manner to transport tubular product and accessories within the yard alongside a Yard Labourer or Yard Technician for clients in the oil and gas industry. Effective communication on radio devices is essential. Additionally, the Pettibone Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures.

Please note: Tenaris requires employees to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and fit test for this position as it is a safety sensitive position.

**Ability to work varied hours and a rotational on-call schedule is a requirement for this position**

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a Pettibone safely to transport tubular product (OCTG) and accessories to prepare truck loads

  • Operate a Pettibone to unload tubular product (OCTG) from rail cars in a safe and efficient manner

  • Partner with Yard Labourers and Yard Technicians to complete various material moving tasks

  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures

  • Adhere to safe work area marked by cones for personal equipment and the equipment of other operators

  • If trained to do so, operate the loader to transport tubular product (OCTG) and accessories

  • Perform daily pre-safety and maintenance checks of equipment to ensure safe operation

  • Participate in routine maintenance; clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required

  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored

  • Actively participate in company safety meetings, procedures and programs; correct unsafe work practices or situations; follow reporting protocols for violations; participate in the Hazard Identification process

  • Maintain inventory

  • Perform pre-winter, winter, spring and summer maintenance on yard

Qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum operating heavy equipment

  • Experience operating Pettibone Super 15 & 20 models with pipe grapples an asset

  • Experience with JD & Cat loaders with bucket or pipe grapple would be an asset

  • Experience handling tubular goods with grapples, an asset (i.e. OCTG or Lumber)

  • Class 5 Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract, an asset

  • Experience working around rail cars offloading product, an asset

  • Heavy Equipment Certificate, or Loader / Pettibone Operator Certificate required (can be trained after hired)

  • Skid steer operation experience and certificate, an asset

  • First Aid Certification required (can be trained after hired)

  • Railway Safety training required (can be trained after hired)

  • Annual Eye Exams, required (arranged for and paid for by the company)
