About the role

Company Overview:

We are a privately held company providing commercial and residential roofing services throughout Alberta and Western Canada for over 40 years. We are currently seeking a full-time, reliable and dynamic Accounting Administrator to join our team.

Job description:

We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented individual with a strong accounting background to join our team as an Accounting Administrator. This role requires proficiency in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Start date June 1, 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Sage 50 for financial transactions and reporting and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Handle accounts receivable collections efficiently and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Conduct month-end procedures.
  • Monitor work in progress
  • Prepare and file GST, T4, T5018, and other relevant financial filings.
  • Prepare and maintain recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
  • Prepare and remit out of province reports including WCB and taxes.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate year-end preparation and liaise with auditors as needed.
  • Conduct job costing and maintain accurate inventory updates.
  • Ensure compliance with safety pre-qualification programs.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing, accounts payable, and month end.
  • Liaise with clients on administrative matters and provide functional advice to other team members

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel and Word).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with financial filings including GST, T4, T5018, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk, or similar role with a strong accounting focus.
  • Payroll and Record of Employment experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Skills and Experience:

  • Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is considered an asset
  • 3 to 5 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes
  • Experience working with Sage 50 is beneficial
