About the role
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, including work on weekdays and weekends)
Hourly Wage $48.895
Overtime is compensated in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Power Engineer (Third Class or higher) to join the powerhouse at our mill in Golden, B.C. Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor all operational equipment and processes through DCS and visual inspections
- Troubleshoot upset conditions while maintaining a safety-first thought process
- Complete daily tasks, water tests, fuel bin level, pulling grates and blowing soot
- Ensure consistent operations of the mill auxiliaries, including Vats, dryers, and presses
- Bi-hourly plant rounds to ensure equipment is operating as required
- Visual Inspection/repairs of various belts, chains, conveyors, and other auxiliary equipment
- Set, adjust, service, and troubleshoot all equipment in the powerhouse and associated steam and condensate equipment
- General powerhouse cleanup
- Provide help with steam/fire protection systems throughout the mill
- Report shortages of consumable materials in the powerhouse (chemicals, safety supplies, etc.) so that replacements can be ordered
- Provide oversight to powerhouse personnel (non-power engineers)
Required Education, Certification, And Experience
- Power Engineer Certificate – Third Class (Third Class who are working towards their Second Class are preferred applicants)
- 5 years of previous related experience
- Experience with hog fired boilers
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (pulling grates, sootblows, operating heavy equipment, standing/walking for long periods, working inside and outside, working in a hot environment, exposure to noise and wood dust)
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and changing priorities
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
- Flexibility to work on both weekdays and weekends
- Reliable, trustworthy, and proactive with a positive, cooperative attitude
- Strong work ethic and focus on safety, efficiency, quality and productivity
- Ability to attend work regularly, arrive punctually and consistently
