Overview
A well-established public accounting firm in Mississauga is seeking a Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to join its team. This dual-role position is ideal for someone with a strong background in bookkeeping and payroll in a public accounting setting who also brings excellent organizational and administrative skills to support smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Payroll
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Process payroll for multiple clients in accordance with current legislation
- Prepare bank reconciliations, general journal entries, and related financial reports
- Ensure timely remittance of government filings
Administrative Support
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and emails
- Organize and maintain client files, records, and documentation
- Provide scheduling and general support to the firm’s professional staff
- Assist with onboarding documentation and communication for new clients or staff
Qualifications:
- Around 2 years of experience in bookkeeping at an accounting firm
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required
- Experience with payroll processing
- Good tax understanding (GST & HST)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Previous experience in an accounting firm or professional services environment is an asset
