Actalent is a global leader in engineering services and human capital solutions. We are seeking Manufacturing Engineers to join our engineering services division in Canada. The incumbents will initially support a major client of ours, specialized in aerospace and ground support vehicles. They will work on-site at the client location in Moncton, NB and support the setup and optimization of work instructions for production builds as well as guide the assembly process for a state-of-the-art logistics transportation vehicle.
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will support the setup and optimization of work instructions for production builds of the vehicle and be responsible for making recommendations to our client in terms of process improvement and optimization.
The individual shall develop and implement strategies to improve quality, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulations, while also leading teams and providing technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience working from CAD models to create manuals, organizing materials and processes for prototype builds, and enhancing manufacturing efficiency. This role plays a critical part in progressing the build process, leading into component testing, and ensuring seamless workflow from assembly to final testing. The product is a ground based vehicle with modular containers that are custom built depending on the personnel or materiel being transported. These are used in military, disaster relief and humanitarian efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manufacturing Process Optimization: Enhance efficiency in the movement of materials through assembly tables, testing stations, and final installation.
- Work Instruction Development: Establish and implement standardized work instructions for production, incorporating drawing images and CAD references.
- Prototype Build Coordination: Organize materials and processes for prototype builds, ensuring efficient assembly of shelters.
- Assembly & Testing Support: Assist in the progression of various build stages, including mounting components like air conditioning units and ensuring proper testing procedures.
- Collaborate with Electricians: Walk through installations alongside electricians, ensuring components are correctly integrated.
- Component Selection & Supplier Coordination: Evaluate specifications, suggest alternative hardware solutions, and confidently recommend component replacements.
- Failure Analysis & Process Improvement: Investigate assembly failures, propose solutions, and lead improvements to streamline the production process.
- CAD & PLM Systems Utilization: Work with Inventor for design modifications, concept sketches, and manipulations; navigate PLM systems, particularly Inventor Vault or similar
Qualifications:
- Engineer preferred with 8+ years of shop floor experience
- Experience making process improvement/optimization recommendations to senior leadership
- Strong mechanical background (electrical knowledge is a plus)
- Expertise in DFA/DFM-level manufacturing and process improvements.
- Experience working from CAD models to develop manuals and work instructions.
- Familiarity with assembly, testing, and optimizing workflow efficiency.
- Proficiency in CAD tools Inventor and PLM systems.
- Ability to collaborate with suppliers and evaluate specifications confidently.
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of proposing solutions for assembly failures.

Pay: $100,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
