An inventory control specialist tracks inventory and stock changes. Your responsibilities include overseeing inventory control, managing deliveries, inspecting inventory, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring a smooth accurate flow of Raw Materials and packaging to and from Fabrication. You will typically work in both the warehouse and fabrication areas of the building. Other duties include reporting inventory levels and issues to management, looking for any discrepancy with inventory, and creating reports that show available inventory or issues with inventory counts. You help with creating policies to ensure efficient inventory control, to aid with safety protocols in the workplace, and for other employees to accurately track inventory data.
Job Success Criteria
This role required an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our shipping and warehouse department. You will track ingoing and outgoing inventory, perform daily cycle counts, and report any discrepancies you are unable to reconcile. You must also keep inventory counts in our ERP system up-to-date, as this allows employees in other departments to check stock levels and work more efficiently. Our goal is to have accurate time bound inventory that can be accessed in real time. You will be responsible to interact with Warehouse, Mix, Production and the Shipping. You will report directly to the Logistics Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receive all inbound raw materials, packaging and supplies
Track and document changes in inventory
Perform cycle counts, or check different sections of inventory on a rotating basis
Reconcile discrepancies
Use our ERP system to communicate inventory information with other business units
Ensure proper labeling and allergen control
Ensure compliance with safety standards
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificate
Warehouse or logistics experience preferred
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
Forklift experience a plus
Great Communication skills
Accurate timebound reporting
Problem Solving Skills
Flexibility and focus
Lean Manufacturing understanding and an understand of process improvement concepts
Basic Computer knowledge
Overall Summary
An Inventory Specialist enables an organization to function optimally by ensuring that all necessary materials for production are in stock when needed. If stock is low, the Inventory Specialist should be proactive, and take the necessary steps to ensure that projects in the workflow remain in progress. It is the Inventory Specialist’s responsibility to keep track of incoming and outgoing products, and to prevent a shortage of supply that could disrupt a company’s processes. They are also often responsible for compiling data in an organized way, scheduling deliveries, and rotating stock as necessary.
Working Conditions:
Physical Effort: Work activities require light activities which involve a variety of easy muscle movements and little physical effort. Majority of time is spent in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about at will.
Physical Environment: Work environment contains only occasional exposure to mild unpleasant or disagreeable conditions with a remote possibility of risk of accident or health hazards.
Sensory Attention: Work activities involve need to concentrate for intermediate durations at a time with some tasks requiring close attention. The need for detailed or precise work is moderate.
Mental Stress: Occasional exposure to one or more mental pressures, though the mental stress would not be noticeably disruptive and related unpleasant stress reaction is not typically strong.
