The Opportunity
To provide technical, procedural, and logistical daily operational support in the development and utilization of lab and simulation resources to students and faculty in the Faculty of Health Sciences programs, working in the Simulation Laboratories, Simulation Suites, Home Health Labs and Therapeutic Communication Suites. This position has full responsibility for the preparation, set-up and take down of all labs and simulations, including supplies, equipment, and skills preparation of manikins (patient simulators), maintenance of hospital equipment, task trainers, and high-fidelity simulators, security and day-to-day- operations. The Experiential Learning Specialist is responsible for training and providing learning opportunities for faculty and students on the proper use of hospital equipment and high-fidelity simulators. The Experiential Learning Specialist has a strong understanding of simulation technologies and healthcare simulation standards of best practice. This position reports to the Manager, Experiential Learning Operations, Health Sciences and delivers exception service to all (internal and external) stakeholder groups.

WHAT IT TAKES
- Bachelor’s degree in a health, technology, communications or other related field at an accredited, post-secondary institution;
- Minimum three years of related work experience in a health-care related environment in a clinical healthcare setting and/or simulation laboratory setting in an education institution;
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification preferred; or certification within the first 12 months of hire;
- An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge and comprehension of clinical/medical terminology and lab processes is essential
- Experience operating a variety of simulation equipment, including patient simulators, task trainers, medical/healthcare related equipment and technology is essential;

This temporary OnCall (Varied hours per week) position is available starting September 2, 2025.

Hours of work will typically be scheduled Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Shift days and times may change depending on operational needs.

Evening and occasional weekend work may be required.

The position is located at the Coquitlam campus; and will be required to work at all Douglas College campuses.
