About the role

Job Description Founded in 2008, BarChef has been recognized globally as a leader in the cocktail industry. We are looking for a talented host to join our team.

The host provides a prompt and warm reception of all guests and finds suitable seating, while providing other measures of outstanding customer service. A serving assistant supports the servers and mixologists by anticipating needs during a busy service. This is a hybrid position as there would be scheduled shifts for each position, with a slight overlap during shifts as needed.

Expectations

  • Provide a great first impression when guests arrive, and a lasting impression as you invite departing guests back for another visit.
  • Maintain a cooperative and positive attitude at all time towards guests and fellow team members.
  • Ensure you are seating the most desirable tables at all times.
  • Anticipate guest transition and the timing of table turns.

Host Duties

  • Welcoming guest upon arrival.
  • Seating guests.
  • Managing the reservations.
  • Taking down wait list names if no tables are available and seating them in a timely manner when ready.
  • Provide accurate wait times.
  • Perform quality checks as guests depart and thank them for their visit.

Serving Assistant Duties

  • Bussing tables and polishing glassware
  • Assisting servers and bartenders greeting tables and taking payments
  • Running cocktails and food
  • Restocking bar and server items as needed
  • Ensuring a clean and efficient work environment
  • Having a Smart Serve certification is required.

Job Types: Part-time

Part-time hours: 15-25 hours per week

Salary: $17.20 per hour

Bottled cocktails line our shelves alongside jars containing over 5,000 oz of our bitters – ranging from cherry and vanilla to rosemary and lavender – aging and infusing for a minimum of three months. The bar is lined with fresh herbs and bottles of all the necessary components for our cocktail program. You'll hear the steady rhythm of our bartenders hand-chipping ice spheres and a nostalgic collection of music ranging from jazz to some more recent selections – all harmoniously paired with the sound of ice being shaken in tin. The scent of fresh herbs and spices lingers with the nostalgic, resonating aroma of our signature cocktail, the "Vanilla and Hickory Smoked Manhattan."​ The feeling of antique glassware in your hand accompanied by the taste of our original cocktails, all of which include our in-house made infusions, bitters and syrups. Our menu is divided into sections. Overture selections are composed for their approachable flavour profiles. Our Parfumerie page is a selection of cocktails based on a more classic, spirit-driven composition. And finally, our molecular program – Frankie Solarik's approach to a more progressive and contemporary cocktail experience, challenging what is possible with flavour, smell and texture.
