CIPSRT (Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment) is looking for a talented and experienced individual to join the team as a Web and Social Media Communications Specialist.
The Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research & Treatment (CIPSRT) at the University of Regina serves as the Knowledge Exchange Hub for knowledge synthesis, translation and exchange that relies upon the best contemporary research evidence supporting an overall mission to help current and former public safety personnel, their leaders, and their families to maintain and improve their mental health and well-being. CIPSRT hosts an annual conference as part of their knowledge mobilization efforts to share research and best practices on public safety personnel mental health. The event draws public safety personnel, academics, researchers, and policymakers. It includes presentations on trauma interventions, peer support, resilience programs, and challenges faced by PSP. This position is a key part of the conference planning team, coordinating logistics and content to support CIPSRT’s mission of improving mental health in public safety.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide strategic conference related communication recommendations to leadership based on research of communication and social media trends.
- Utilize computer software programs to develop conference related materials (print and digital) that promote the conference and support knowledge sharing pre and post event. This includes graphic design for conference websites, infographics, posters & other materials (print and digital), photo manipulation, illustration, audio and video recording, audio pre-production and post-production, and video pre-production and post-production.
- Develop and publish graphic and media creative concepts to help with outreach and raising awareness specifically for the annual conference and related CIPSRT activities.
- Maintain CIPSRT branding across all conference material and communications, to ensure a cohesive and professional presentation that reflects both CIPSRT and University of Regina standards. This includes, working collaboratively with peers to improve upon existing guidelines and establish new guidelines where needed.
- Establish and strengthen CIPSRT and PSPNET brand awareness within public safety personnel communities to attract relevant attendees and stakeholders to the conference. Design and execute communications and marketing plans to share knowledge with diverse interested parties, at the University of Regina, as well as nationally, using cohesive branding that reflects CIPSRT national branding guidelines and University of Regina’s standards.
- Strategize and manage social media campaigns to promote delivery of CISPRT’s deliverables when applicable. Build and maintain an online network and relationships with PSP and interested parties by being attentive to social media posts from various groups. Establish trust by being vigilant and attentive on social media. Administer all conference related CIPSRT social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
- Provide visual knowledge translation through well-designed materials that support the presentation and dissemination of research and insights during the conference. .
- Recommend branding, marketing, and communications strategies specifically aimed at boosting conference attendance and impact.
- Identify how to promote CIPSRT strategically.
- Develop advertising strategies and select appropriate media channels for the annual CIPSRT annual conference as needed. Design and implement both paid and organic social media campaigns, including the creation of campaign materials. Identify relevant content for social media, manage post setup, and schedule content across platforms. Additionally, create and maintain a comprehensive social media plan to guide outreach efforts.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- An undergraduate degree in visual communications, graphic design, or fine arts, with a focus on creating branded and promotional materials and campaigns, and working knowledge of social media tools and strategy.
- Minimum of 5 years working in advertising or communications. Experience working in the communications field for a research institute is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomatic communication skills (written and verbal) including conflict resolution. Ability to articulate social media, graphic design, video production, or web design concepts to the team and PSP accurately and effectively.

- Graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier. Video editing software such as iMovie, FinalCut Pro, basic HTML. Design theory and colour theory. Understand print production methods. Understand video pre- and post-production.
- Strong understanding of advertising and marketing strategy, with the ability to develop and implement effective campaigns. Demonstrates awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, and approaches related work with sensitivity and care. Understanding of Public Safety Personnel and their organization culture, consumer/ target audience behaviour.
- Use of social media and the politics and sensitivity around it. Knowledge of how to purchase ads on social media and understand social media insight and analytics.
- Understanding of website content management system, basic HTML editor, website SEO, and Website and social media analytics.
- Communication trends and technology advancement. This position is required to stay up to date with communications trends, and its technologies include graphic design software, copyright laws, communications platforms, and the like.
Considered assets for these positions are:
- Education, training or experience in fields related to public safety, mental health, and/or knowledge mobilization; and
- Experience gained in public or non-profit sectors, particularly in unionized and/or research environments.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $66,740 - $90,060 annually (as of July 1, 2025) Status Term Work Hours
Monday – Friday, 8:15 am – 4:30 pm.
These positions may involve travel up to 3 times per year to attend conferences or events.
