Non-Executive Director (for clinical matters)

Description

  • In Dorset
  • Part-time basis (up to 20 days per year)
  • £8,000 per annum plus expenses
  • Closing date: Sunday 15th June 2025

Care Dorset is a successful and growing Local Authority Trading Company (LATC) providing social care services to adults across Dorset. With ambitious plans for the future, we are committed to delivering outstanding care and strengthening our role as a provider, partner and employer of choice.

We are now seeking a Non-Executive Director (NED) to join our Board and take on the portfolio lead for clinical and therapeutic services.

This is a key governance role, supporting the strategic development of Care Dorset, providing robust professional challenge and assurance, and shaping our approach to the clinical excellence, quality, safety and providing an outstanding service to the people and families we support.

The appointed NED will act as our Board lead for clinical matters as we introduce nursing care and therapy lead services in the near future. As such, we are seeking someone with a healthcare background, ideally a clinician or therapist. Your insight will be crucial in ensuring safe, effective and continuously improving care.

We are looking for a strategic, values driven leader with:

  • Board level experience, ideally within a health and care setting
  • Strong understanding of clinical quality, governance and risk
  • Ability to provide independent challenge and strategic oversight
  • Commitment to promoting the voice of the people we support, their families, our communities and our colleagues at Care Dorset.

We are proud of our Care Dorset values which were co-produced with our colleagues. You should be able to demonstrate how you live our values - We are people focused | We have integrity | We will develop | We are genuine | We are a team – and support a culture of inclusion, collaboration and continuous learning.

We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to ensure our Board reflects the communities we serve.

In addition to the remuneration package, this is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the support and wellbeing of our local communities. While flexible and remote working is supported, we also value Board visibility across our services. Our colleagues welcome visits and engagement from members of the Board to share insights and celebrate successes.

If you’re passionate about providing outstanding social care services and have the experience to shape and oversee the introduction of clinical and therapeutic services at Board level, we’d love to hear from you.

If you would like to learn more about the role, please contact governance@caredorset.co.uk and we can arrange a time for you to discuss with our Chair of the Board.

Interviews will be held in Dorchester during late June and further information to follow.

Please email your CV and supporting letter to governance@caredorset.co.uk and somebody will be in touch. Thank you for your interest in Care Dorset.
