Junior Bookkeeper

We are looking for a detail-driven and exceptionally organized Junior Bookkeeper to support our legal accounting operations. This entry-level role is ideal for someone with strong Excel skills, a foundational knowledge of bookkeeping, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment.
Our firm specializes in real estate and creditors’ rights, where accuracy, speed, and professionalism are critical. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career in the legal-financial field with hands-on exposure to high-volume transactional work.
As a Junior Bookkeeper, you will assist with routine accounting transactions and help maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records. You will receive training and mentoring from experienced finance professionals.
Responsibilities:
· Record day-to-day transactions accurately in accounting software
· Record and reconcile large volumes of transactions related to real estate closings, trust accounts, and creditor matters
· Perform data entry and validation across multiple ledgers and client files
· Assist with posting invoices, receipts, payments, cost recoveries, bills.
· Maintain digital and physical filing systems to support financial documentation and audit readiness
· Prepare and reconcile bank and trust statements in compliance with legal trust regulations
· Reconcile credit card statements and other required schedules
· Manage accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, and client billing support
· Support month-end procedures, including reconciliations and basic reporting
· Help prepare reports or summaries as requested
· Communicate with vendors to clarify payment details when needed
· Attend all email requests from the Firm departments and provide response in a timely manner
· Communicate professionally with legal clerks, lawyers, clients, and external parties regarding payments and transactions
· Track deadlines and ensure timely submission of financial documents and disbursements
· Assist with audit preparation and document gathering
Qualifications:
· Diploma or certificate in bookkeeping or related field (in progress or completed)
· Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger (e.g., debits/credits, ledgers)
· High proficiency in Excel, including navigation, formulas, filters, and lookups
· Impeccable organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
· Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and follow-through
· Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Preferred Assets
· Experience or internship in a legal, real estate, or financial services environment
· Familiarity with legal accounting software (e.g., Soluno, PCLaw, Acumin.)
· Knowledge of trust accounting rules and procedures
A satisfactory criminal records check will be required from the selected candidate as a condition of employment.
