The Opportunity: CLC Fitness Centre Clerk 1 - permanent, full-time
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement” Job Classification: Clerk I
The CLC Fitness and Recreation Center is co-owned and operated by both Olds College and Chinook’s Edge School Division using a business model to serve multiple clients from both institutions and Olds and area. Reporting to the Manager of Community Learning Campus Fitness and Recreation, the CLC Fitness Clerk supports the operation of the Community Learning Campus Fitness and Recreation Centre through the delivery of high-quality client service, precise administrative and financial support, and assistance with program coordination. This role upholds a safe, organized, and client-focused environment that aligns with institutional standards and objectives.
NOTE: This is a 5:15am to 12:30pm positions, Monday to Friday
Key Job Functions:
Administrative Functions
- Deliver prompt, courteous, and professional assistance to clients, ensuring a positive experience
- Respond to client inquiries, concerns, complaints in a timely, and efficient manner
- Foster strong relationships with clients, offering consistent support and building trust
- Administer, schedule, and fulfill orders for Outdoor Centre rental equipment
- Coordinate staff availability and assist in the development of employee work schedules
- Assist with the training and onboarding of new staff members
- Accurately enter and manage data related to fitness and recreation facility bookings
- Maintain accurate data entry, ensuring proper updates to systems or databases for record-keeping and reporting purposes
- Oversee filing and storage of documents to ensure security, organization, and accessibility of records
- Perform general administrative tasks to support the seamless operations of the Community Learning Campus Fitness and Recreation Centre.
Financial Responsibilities
- Ensure the accurate processing of registrations, membership sales, payments, and client transactions with meticulous attention to detail
- Oversee daily deposit reconciliation and generate corresponding financial reports
Programming
- May assist with the coordination and delivery of recreation programs, including but not limited to youth programs, events, and Intramurals
Health & Safety
- Clean, organize and assist in maintenance of fitness & recreation equipment
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the clientele by enforcing fitness center rules and regulations
- Possess a practical understanding of fitness equipment and its proper usage
- The employee is responsible for being aware of health and safety responsibilities and expectations as outlined in college policy, departmental and area procedures, and provincial legislation
- The employee will attend training as required by the supervisors and conduct work in a manner that protects the health and safety of themselves and others
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required
- Minimum of High School Diploma. Post-secondary education in administration or accounting is considered an asset. Coursework in computer applications and office administration is also beneficial.
- Minimum six (6) months related work experience
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills
- Makes decisions with our Community partners, stakeholders, and the sectors we serve in mind, demonstrating the value of relationship building.
