About the role

Overview To apply the most current techniques and knowledge for the processing of sterile products in order to provide high quality service in the supply of med-surgical products and instrumentation to user areas. Responsible for decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization of equipment, supplies and surgical instrumentation.

EDUCATION

  • Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of MDRD certification from an accredited college (completion of program within the last 2 years) required.

Qualifications

  • One-year experience (within the last 2 years) working in an MDRD environment required.
  • Adheres to hospital's workplace safety standards pertinent to position.
  • Experience in the functions of assembly, prep and package, decontamination of surgical case carts/instruments/trays/equipment.
  • Computer skills.
  • Able to demonstrate good decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift 25 lbs repeatedly and push items over 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Ability to work all shifts including weekends and night shift.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
