Position:
Logistics Specialist
Department: Supply Chain Department
Reports to: Team Lead
Position Type: 6-month Contractor
Location: Aurora, Ontario
Summary:
In this role, the Logistics Specialist works in a team environment with the principal objective of creating and maintaining an efficient day-to-day Logistics Service to the customers. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, great record-keeping abilities and customer focus. A team player who has excellent communication and negotiation skills, also well-versed in supply chain management principles and practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Arrange export and import of shipments by various multimodal transports (Air, Ocean, Road and Rail) to/from various overseas destinations based on Incoterms.
- Create and prepare shipping documents including Commercial Invoices, Packing slips, BOLs, Country of Origin certificate.
- Responsible for compliance with Customs Acts and regulations, Submit CERS Export declarations (B-13) for commercial goods per Customs Act.
- Provide cost estimates on request to internal end users, for movement of goods to domestic /overseas destinations based upon use of appropriate carrier and modes of transport (Air, Ocean, Road and Rail).
- Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments per shipment schedule.
- Identify, analyze, and manage potential and actual issues and risks, take corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues.
- Ensure premises, assets and communication ways are used effectively.
- Utilize logistics IT to optimize procedures.
- Supervise orders and arrange stocking of raw materials and equipment to ensure they meet needs.
- Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements.
- Keep logs and records of warehouse stock, executed orders etc.
- Prepare accurate reports for management review and internal risk control.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
- Diploma or Degree from an accredited university or college in supply chain/business, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in logistics function.
- Must have working knowledge of incoterms and import/export regulations (e.g., Tariff Classification; Certificate of Origin, Commercial Invoice, B13, etc.) and carrier management.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and ISO requirements.
- Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.
- Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities
- A strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in MS office such as Excel, Word, and Outlook etc.
- Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics and ERP software like Microsoft Dynamic.
