About the role
Frankel & Company is seeking a General Accountant to join our expanding team of professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing consulting practice that partners with emerging startups and technology companies across North America.
About the Role
As a General Accountant, you’ll work directly with client stakeholders and internal leadership to support day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and analysis. You will play a key role in building scalable finance functions for early-stage and growth-oriented companies in the tech ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a day-to-day liaison with client management, employees, vendors, and customers
- Oversee maintenance of client financial records, including review of reconciliations, AP/AR processing, and journal entries
- Support preparation of monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual comparisons, and management reports
- Collaborate with Controllers and CFOs to implement and improve financial processes and internal controls
- Assist with payroll processing and respond to client HR-related inquiries
- Prepare and file sales tax returns; coordinate with external accountants and government agencies as needed
- Conduct operational analysis and support special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (client-facing experience preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage tasks independently
- Proactive self-starter with an interest in startups and technology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and technology-driven environment
- Proficient with accounting systems and software; ability to learn new tools quickly
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field
- CPA designation or pursuit is not required
