Hours: 35 hours per week
Shift: Shifts vary but will include weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Salary: $50,000 - $54,000 per year
Reports To: Centre Manager

Nature & Scope
The Prince George Family Y is a multi-services facility, offering Fitness Services, Health Management Programs, Group Fitness classes, and Child and Youth Programs. We believe in putting people first, providing 5-Star YMCA Experiences and Services, and creating environments that are caring, welcoming and support people to achieve their goals.
Major Responsibilities**-in this position, you will:**
- Provide direct support to the Personal Training, Fitness Floor, Group Fitness and Y Thrive teams, helping them reach booking and participation targets by actively recruiting and developing relationships with existing and potential members.
- Responsible for leading the Fitness department and staff/volunteer team including high volume of daily service, recruitment, coaching and performance management, payroll and scheduling for all Fitness staff and Volunteers, additional tasks given to the department and all associated administrative duties.
- Ensure all fitness staff and volunteers have the necessary current qualifications, that all fitness program spaces have adequate supplies and equipment in good operating condition, build and maintain class schedules, anticipate and act on member feedback to improve fitness services (equipment, classes, scheduling etc). Support the execution of annual professional development events for fitness professionals.
- Provide key leadership on the implementation and maintenance of relevant YMCA Canada Standards and programs (YMCA Group Fitness Certification/Y Thrive/ YMCA Personal Training Certification/SAM 2.0/Service that Shines).
- Act as a contributing member to the YMCA BC Fitness SME group; implementing new initiatives and programs as needed, and providing information, reports, statistics, recommendations as requested.
- Responsible for duty manager shifts overseeing the facility and staff to ensure effective service is provided, conflicts resolved and safety of staff and members.
- Ensure adherence to all YMCA BC policies and practices; and relevant national, provincial and local standards, laws and regulations.
Qualifications**-you bring:**
- Some post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as kinesiology, physiotherapy or physical education
- 1-2 years previous work/volunteer experience in a health & fitness setting, such as personal training or teaching group fitness
- 1-2 years previous experience leading a staff or volunteer team, or acting in a leadership role
- Combination of 3+ years in areas described above
- Demonstrated achievement of administrative tasks, such as checklists, schedules, invoicing, summary reports, maintaining calendars
- Experience using Microsoft programs such as Word, Teams, Excel and Outlook
- Current, valid Personal Training, Individual Conditioning and or Group Fitness Certification; or the ability to obtain within 6 months of starting position
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Standard First Aid and CPR C or ability to obtain within 3 months of starting
- Three professional references and clear Criminal Record Check
