As part of Kruger Publication Papers division, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited is a quality leader in the manufacture of newsprint and holds the Sustainable Forest Initiative Certification as well as being self-sufficient on energy between Deer Lake Power Generation, Steam Power and Steam Recovery. We aim to be fully reliant on clean energy.
Overview Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is currently looking for a candidate for the position of Power Engineer working in the Steam Plant. Power Engineers are responsible for the safe operation of high pressure boiler and auxiliaries including pumps, compressors, etc. Responsible to check and maintain demineralized water treatment system, and the safe startup and operation of a 17 MW Siemens Turbo generator.
Primary duties include the following:
- Previous experience working in a 1 st class plant is considered an asset
- Knowledge of safe plant operations
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and changing priorities
- Previous experience in a production environment is also an asset .
- Willingness to work at tasks outside the Steam Plant as required starting out, including labour work, etc.
Qualifications The successful candidate must have:
- As a minimum, candidates will have a 3 rd Class Power Engineering Ticket, but preference will be given to someone working toward their 2 nd class ticket
- Previous experience working in an industrial environment is an asset
- Strong commitment to Health and Safety
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and changing priorities
- Ability to work short notice and after hour calls
- All applicants should possess a grade 12 diploma or equivalent in addition to their power engineering certificate
- All applicants will have recent Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) training and possess Standard First Aid Certification
- Applicant must provide proof of all relevant qualifications and be available to participate in a pre-employment testing procedure
