Overview
Parkwoods United Church is a welcoming faith community that has been serving the Don Mills area since 1960. We are seeking a Children's Ministry Program Specialist to provide quality Christian education, based on a curriculum, for children from ages 5 to 13 years old, from diverse backgrounds. http://www.parkwoodsunitedchurch.ca/
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a weekly Christian education lesson based on the provided curriculum in a multiage setting.
- Collect all necessary resources for weekly lessons, remaining under proposed Christian Education budget.
- Provide a welcoming, safe and comfortable learning environment for the children.
- Ensure the education space is tidied and cleaned following each week's lesson.
- Communicate effectively with parents about children's activities and experiences.
- Teach every Sunday morning.
Qualifications
- Liberal, Christian background is necessary.
- Experience working with children from ages 5 to 13.
- Sensitive to cultural diversity.
- Effective communication skills (written and oral) in English.
- Motivated, creative, flexible and cooperative team member.
- Education in Early Childhood Education, an asset.
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate, an asset.
- A clear, mandatory Vulnerable Sector Screening - Police Reference Check prior to starting (paid for by the church upon hiring).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 per week
