The Role The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme allows eligible Australian businesses to hire workers from nine Pacific islands and Timor-Leste when there are not enough local workers available. The work is interesting, complex and meaningful; it involves detailed engagement with government agencies and external stakeholders from a range of backgrounds.

Reporting to Assistant Directors, Senior Compliance Officers are responsible for contract management, conducting investigations, assessments, and site visits to ensure compliance with obligations under the Deed and Guidelines in relation to the assurance of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme. They are required to provide input into reports and planning and contribute to team development and staff capability.

Duties And Responsibilities Responsibilities of the APS Level 6 may include:

  • Under limited direction, coordinate and/or conduct:
  • investigations into serious non-compliance (and potential non-compliance) matters.
  • triage management for new non-compliance matter referrals.
  • targeted compliance reviews and assessments.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to facilitate sensitive and complex stakeholder engagement and compliance action.
  • Prepare or provide input for governance reports, ministerial briefing materials, and analytical reports, for review by Executive level employees.
  • Assist to monitor the Compliance Management Team’s performance requirements/ indicators, including implementing work plans, providing feedback, and or management of team resources to meet objectives.
  • Critically consider available information to identify emerging trends/risks and propose treatments.
  • Work in a range of cultural environments to communicate sensitively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
