About the role

Position Summary

Temporary Full-Time Appendix D Support Staff, replacement contract position (Immediate need to October 24, 2025)

The Career Services Coordinator leads, plans, and manages Career Services programming and initiatives across a broad spectrum of career and employment-related topics to foster optimal employment outcomes for Conestoga students and graduates. The incumbent seeks to engage students and faculty in programming and events with the goal of enhancing Career Service’s profile, fostering collaboration, and building long-term partnerships.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with three days on-site at the Doon campus located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener, and two days remote.

Responsibilities Career services programming

  • Identifies opportunities to innovate and develop new programming to meet strategic priorities such as support for international students and alumni
  • Develops an annual programming plan that encompasses co-curricular workshops and major events/initiatives, such as Career Readiness Week, Canada Career Month, Grad Week, etc.
  • Drafts a programming budget for manager approval and tracks expenses
  • Works collaboratively with employer relations staff to engage employers and industry partners in Career Services programming and events
  • Serves as the key point of contact for Orientation, overseeing Career Services messaging and participation in the Conestoga 101 module, Student Handbook, pre/post-arrival orientation activities, Resource Fair, etc.
  • Represents Career Services on the Student Affairs Events Committee, liaising with Student Affairs colleagues, the International Office, and Conestoga Students Inc. to encourage collaboration and participation in Career Services programming and events
  • Works with marketing and communication colleagues to develop digital/print marketing material and social media content to showcase Career Services programming and initiatives
  • Identifies and gathers outcome measures and metrics for Career Services programming and events, analysing quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate their effectiveness

Talent Hub Student Ambassador program

  • Researches best practices in student ambassador programs within the Canadian post-secondary sector
  • Develops an annual plan and budget for the program that reflects the Talent Hub’s operational and strategic objectives
  • Develops position descriptions and identifies opportunities to support students’ personal/professional growth and competency development
  • Coordinates the recruitment process through candidate screening and interviewing
  • Develops a robust training and onboarding program that encompasses roles and responsibilities
  • Coordinates scheduling, campus deployment, and task assignment and provides day-to-day support for Student Ambassadors

Faculty outreach

  • Works with faculty to identify opportunities to develop/partner on customized programming and resources related to specific programs of study
  • Liaises with program coordinators, program managers, and faculty to engage them in Talent Hub programming as guest speakers, panel members, etc.

Qualifications

  • Three-year diploma or degree in public relations, communications, business, marketing, social sciences, or a related field of study
  • Three years of experience in event management, programming, marketing, public or community relations, preferably in a post-secondary environment
  • Commitment to principles of diversity and inclusion, coupled with demonstrated experience working with international students and students from other equity-seeking groups
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills to foster collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • A high degree of initiative and creativity, and advanced event management skills with the capacity to successfully plan, coordinate, and execute major events
  • Superior oral/written communication and presentation skills with experience developing and facilitating experiential workshops
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and apply research, institutional data, and theoretical frameworks to develop, coordinate, and report on outcomes-based programming
  • Experience recruiting, training, supervising, and motivating student staff or volunteers
  • Knowledge of the Canadian labour market, Conestoga college programs, and trends/best practices in student recruitment and career services
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite, Symplicity, and Orbis with a demonstrated ability to learn and leverage new digital platforms
