What you'll do
As Canadian Tire Corporation continues on our transformative growth strategy with customers at the core, the Strategy team plays an important role in the Transformation Management Office (TMO) bringing that vision to life. This new role is critical to achieving our organizational transformation ambitions and True North strategic objectives. It provides an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with intellectual curiosity, detail orientation, executive communication skills, and a strength in business case development to be on the forefront of the next stage of CTC’s evolution.
Reporting to the AVP, Strategic Development, the Senior Consultant, Strategic Development & Operations will be responsible for supporting new opportunity intake and early-stage validation, foundational strategic initiatives, and executive integration operations.
Support New Opportunity Intake and Early Stage Validation
- Support opportunity intake processes, including screening and initial framing of opportunities.
- Conduct data analysis and research synthesis to define concepts.
- Analyze size of prize and determine initial opportunity attractiveness.
- Gather data and validate assumptions from the business to develop financial models and business cases to inform go/no-go decisions.
- Develop materials to drive senior decision-making and prioritization.
Support True North Strategic Initiatives with Ongoing Incubation and Execution
- Provide financial and data analysis, research, and executive-level materials preparation for initiative incubation and execution.
- Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and consultants to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
- Offer project management support including managing milestones and deliverables, identifying issues, tracking progress, and documentation.
Support Executive Integration Operations
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional working relationships to facilitate executive integration across the enterprise.
- Manage the quarterly process, including gathering and synthesizing information, supporting the preparation of Executive and Board documents, and providing detailed review.
- Assist with Board management tasks such as managing dates and deliverables, tracking follow-up items, providing detailed reviews, and coordinating with Legal for timely material delivery.
- Conduct research and gather inputs for meeting preparation, stakeholder alignment, and executive context setting; synthesize information into executive-level presentations and memos.
- Support key strategic projects/ad-hoc requests on behalf of senior leadership while working with cross-functional groups.
- Prepare materials for executive and Board level forums by conducting supporting research and content synthesis with input from relevant stakeholders.
What you bring
- 5+ years of professional work experience in strategy development, initiative assessment, consulting or related field.
- Experience in the retail sector
- University degree in commerce, business administration or a related discipline.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in an executive format and highly proficient in PPT
- Strong financial and data analysis skills, to support in the development of business cases and initiative assessments
- Experience interfacing with all levels within an organization including Senior Executives, and a proven ability to build productive business relationships both internally and externally.
