About the Role
We’re seeking one energetic, responsible, and highly organized Camp Lead to oversee our summer camps for children ages 4–12. This is a leadership role that requires strong teaching, communication, and problem-solving skills. A big part of your job will be managing parent expectations, handling sensitive situations with care, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Camper Supervision
- Lead a team of 8–9 camp counsellors
- Supervise campers at all times (before/after care, lunch, field trips)
- Perform daily safety checks and uphold all camp safety procedures
- Manage conflict and respond calmly to stressful or emergency situations
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all campers
Programming & Delivery
- Collaborate with the Programs Coordinator and Community Engagement Manager
- Assist staff in planning and delivering engaging weekly programming
- Adapt activities for children with a variety of learning needs
- Lead or support activities aligned with weekly camp themes (see below)
- Ensure timely transitions and adherence to daily schedules
Communication & Customer Service
- Greet and communicate with parents/guardians daily
- Provide timely, professional updates about camper experiences and incidents
- Use strength-based language and positive guidance strategies
- Model appropriate behavior for youth and support positive group dynamics
- Document and report incidents or concerns to administration

Qualifications & Experience
- Teaching or formal instructional experience is strongly preferred
- 2+ years working with children/youth in a camp, classroom, or day program
- Post-secondary education in education, child development, recreation, or related field (preferred)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong conflict resolution, leadership, and organizational abilities
- Must be 18 years or older
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search required if hired
Job Details
- Full-time, on-site: Monday to Friday
- Dates: Monday, July 14 – Friday, August 22, 2025
- Shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Must be available for the full contract period
