Hours: 37.5 per week

Foundry BC is a provincial initiative to expand access to mental healthcare, substance use services, primary care, peer support and social services for young people across BC through Integrated Youth Services (IYS) centres. By bringing together a variety of health and social services under one roof and working in partnership with young people (aged 12 to 24) and families, Foundry will help young people get the help they need when they need it.
Job Summary
The Work & Education Supervisor provides supported employment and education services based on the Individualized Placement Support (IPS) model, while also overseeing and coordinating the Foundry Work & Education Program. The position will collaborate with the Foundry Centre Manager and Foundry Central Office to support program implementation while coordinating/leading daily program activities and services. The Work & Education Supervisor provides direct supervision of the Work & Education Specialist team, promoting integration and collaboration with other Foundry Centre services. This position will also work with Foundry Central Office to coordinate and implement program evaluation activities.
The Work & Education Supervisor will also assist youth to obtain and maintain competitive employment and/or education opportunities that are consistent with their vocational goals. The Work & Education Specialist works as part of Foundry’s integrated team, supporting youth in a variety of settings, including outreach, to develop, implement, monitor, evaluate, and revise individualized case planning for youth experiencing barriers to employment and education. This can include support related to job search, resume writing, interview skills and securing employment. Other supports include life, community and employability skills, schooling and technical training required for career advancement. This role also includes building relationships with employers, educational institutes, training programs, and other community partners to support youths’ service needs/goals.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor degree in a related human/service field, and
-
Three years recent, related experience supporting at risk youth facing multiple barriers to employment and education, and providing employment supports, or
-
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Position Requirements
- Successful completion of:
- criminal record check
- personal and professional references
- educational transcripts
- Have or willing to obtain a current First Aid Certificate & CPR
- Willing to complete IPS training and certification.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's license, reliable vehicle and clean driver’s abstract
- Signed Confidentiality Agreement
- Adherence to OneSky policies and procedures, program operations manual and commitment to Code of Ethics

Supervision Responsibilities
-
Coordinate and lead the daily activities of Work & Education program in accordance with Foundry’s Work & Education program guidelines, while ensuring a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for youth and families
-
Supervise, mentor and train Work & Education Specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and service excellence
-
Collaborate with the Foundry Center Manager to hire and integrate new staff, ensuring compliance with program values and objectives.

Design and coordinate staff schedules and activity scheduling to ensure effective service delivery
-
Support the team during critical incidents and high-risk situations, promoting a rapid and appropriate response
-
In collaboration with the Foundry Centre Manger, manage the program budget allocating funds based on the Work & Education guidelines to support youth with work and education needs.
-
In collaboration with Foundry Centre team, plan to equitably support as many youth as possible across the whole fiscal year within the Work & Education program.
Direct Service Responsibilities
-
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of employment trends, needs, and gaps to support employment and education opportunities for youth
-
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of education and training options for youth with support and accessibility needs and help youth to access
-
Identify, build, and maintain relationships with a broad range of employer partners to provide opportunities for youth with support and accessibility needs in the workplace
-
Identify volunteer opportunities that further employment and education goals
-
Engage youth in the Centre, community, and employment settings to establish trusting, collaborative relationships
-
Assesses youth’s vocational skills and preferences on ongoing basis utilizing background information and work experiences
-
Develop, monitor, and adjust individual employment and/or education plans with youth, based on their needs, and in collaboration with the members of their support team
-
Works collaboratively with team members to meet pre-established goals and objectives; facilitates recovery-based peer support meetings and activities
-
Help youth learn about different jobs/careers, conduct job searches and assist with meetings with workers/managers to ask about positions that interest the youth, meetings with academic advisors, and job fairs to speak with employers about different types of jobs

Assists youth in learning about different education and vocational training programs related to their interests and academic aptitudes
-
Assist youth in accessing and applying for other services/resources, including financial aid
-
Provide education and support to employers, including information around job accommodations
-
Advocate for youth with employers and community professionals, and for inclusive hiring practices for youth with individual needs

Liaise with community employment offices and agencies
-
Completes and maintains related records and documentation

Attends and participates in team meetings, case conferences and Centre initiatives
