About the role
This is a longitudinal family practice family physician posting. Hours and day of the week can be negotiated. The intent is to build a new panel of patients from the Lake Cowichan area.
The Kaatza Clinic is a part of the Cowichan PCN and has access to team-based care. This role would work alongside 2 NPs, 2 MOA, 1 RN and has access to a PCN SW and Pharmacist. The clinic is co-located with public health and community health services.
Start Date As soon as possible
Benefits May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), such as:
- Recruitment Incentive (pro-rated for part-time) $10,000
- Relocations Costs Reimbursement up to a maximum of $15,000
- Fee Premium 4.48%
- Annual Flat Fee $6,942.72
- Rural CME years 3 & 4 $2,200, $4,400 after 4 years

Community Information The Town of Lake Cowichan is a growing, vibrant community of approximately 3,000 people, with an additional 3,500 people in the surrounding area. It is approximately 20 minutes outside of Duncan and an hour northwest of Victoria.
The community is situated on Cowichan Lake, which is one of the largest fresh-water lakes on the Island, with the Cowichan River flowing through town. Nearby communities include Honeymoon Bay, Mesachie Lake and Youbou.
The Town provides access to Port Renfrew and Bamfield, which are the trailheads for the West Coast Trail section of the Pacific Rim national Park Reserve. The Town has lots of parks, water access and hiking access. Tubing down the Cowichan River is a popular summer activity.
The Town features a rural and small-town way of life with accessibility to larger centers.
The new hospital that is under construction is a 20-minute drive down the highway.
