Home Campus: Fennell (fully on-site)

Rate of Pay: Payband H (Start Rate: $36.29 per hour)

The Coordinator, Sports Information & Game Day is responsible for the planning, implementation, and coordination of all athletic communications.

Under the guidance of the Manager, Sports Marketing, Communication & Events, the incumbent will assist in the execution of a marketing and communications strategy for the athletic department in order to establish and promote the distinct brand of Mountaineer athletics. The incumbent will report to the Manager, Sports Marketing, Communication & Events and have responsibility for all aspects of athletic media relations and communications. The incumbent will facilitate the development and distribution of information related to all 10 intercollegiate programs, coaches, and student-athletes across multiple platforms and social media outlets, including the Mountaineer Sports Network; update game notes and information; and maintain the athletics website.

Reporting to the Manager, Sports Marketing, Communication & Events, the incumbent will assist with varsity events, such as game days, to ensure that a high-quality experience is delivered to Mohawk students and community. The incumbent will also make sure that all logistics required for varsity homes games are coordinated as required and guides a team of student staff (set-up crew, announcer, etc.) to ensure that game set-up is complete as required, and the game is choreographed and run in an efficient and entertaining way for spectators. Additionally, the incumbent will ensure all game scores, stats and other details are recorded and digitally submitted with the appropriate software to the OCAA. The incumbent will also be responsible for all aspects of traditional game day sports information operations which include marketing materials, photography, in-game and post-game score updates, live stream broadcast, and post-game videos and recaps.

What you'll be doing:

Digital Content & Sports Information

  • Plans and coordinates preparation and distribution of all athletic publications, including, but not limited to, game programs, media guides, weekly releases, game recaps, and human-interest stories.
  • Plan and execute content for the Mountaineers website and social media, including written material and multimedia content.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Sports Marketing, Communication and Events as well as student staff to develop digital content ranging from photography (media day), videography and graphic design that supports the Mountaineers social media and in-game digital signage.
  • Prepares, maintains, and distributes all necessary statistics, rosters, and results.
  • Assist with weekly and yearly nomination for various OCAA and CCAA awards.
  • Maintains the research, development and maintenance of career/season records and statistics for all sports programs and student-athletes.
  • Ensures the maintenance of all general archival information on Mohawk athletics.

Game Day & Marketing

  • Coordinates and contributes to the development of a digital marketing and communications strategy for Mohawk Athletics.
  • Contributes to the development and enhancement of the athletics' brand strategy.
  • Tracks consumer engagement and usage on all media platforms to create target-marketing plans.
  • Assist with the coordination of all statistical reporting and ensure compliance with the OCAA sport information requirements, deadlines and procedures.
  • Ensure that all logistics required for varsity home game setup is coordinated, and lead student staff for both setup and tear-down, while also ensuring event is executed to standards that keep spectators engaged and entertained.
  • Plan marketing material and execute themed game day events.
  • Ensure all game scores, stats and other details are recorded and digitally submitted with the appropriate software to the OCAA office.
  • Work with other department staff, providing support and assistance to other members of the department in general as required for marketing support.
  • Work with other department staff in planning varsity events, including the Athletic Banquet and Hall of Fame ceremony.

Media Program Liaison

  • Act as a liaison between the Department and College's Broadcast Program.
  • Help educate and provide experiential learning experiences for students for all live streams and other video production.
  • Work with the Broadcast Program to create streaming schedules, brainstorm content ideas, advance production, and other communication needs.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Three (3) year degree/diploma (or equivalent) in Diploma in a relevant field of study with an emphasis on Sports Marketing, Creative Advertising, Communications, Marketing or equivalent.
  • Experience in sport information and digital content creation.
  • Experience with the analysis of sport statistics.
  • Experience in sport journalism and broadcasting.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal skills when dealing with the public.
  • Superior writing ability, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Advanced computer skills with respect to design and creative publications and materials.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating a sport event video and photography.
  • Experience in coordinating events, specifically sporting events / game days.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
