About the Role
We’re looking for a Regulatory Compliance Advisor to join our team!
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Ontario Cannabis Store’s Regulatory Compliance Program by helping implement and maintain essential compliance processes. The goal of the program is to uphold organizational integrity and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, directives, and policies in a structured, proactive way while identifying gaps and addressing risks.
You’ll focus on task management, apply strong attention to detail, and support the implementation and operationalization of the OCS Regulatory Compliance Framework, particularly in high-risk areas
About Your Day
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing development of Regulatory Compliance programs across the organization.
- Stay up to date on relevant laws and regulations, ensuring timely updates to the Regulations Register and ongoing organizational compliance.
- Analyze regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable business requirements.
- Help develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, forms, and guidelines.
- Assist with creating educational materials and resources to support compliance awareness and training.
- Review and test the effectiveness of compliance controls and assess alignment with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Develop test plans and schedules to evaluate control effectiveness across departments with regulatory obligations.
- Prepare compliance review reports, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
- Track mitigation efforts, escalate unresolved risks to leadership, and follow up on implementation of recommendations.
- Investigate reports of non-compliance and support resolution efforts.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand compliance needs and provide practical guidance.
- Conduct fit-gap and compliance risk assessments, helping ensure a risk-based approach to regulatory obligations.
- Contribute to risk assessment reports for leadership and collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management on broader risks.
- Work with business partners to develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
About You
- Post-secondary education (Bachelor’s degree) in Political Science, Public Administration/Policy, Law, Compliance or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in a regulatory compliance field (5+ years of experience in a regulatory compliance field within the Ontario Public Sector is preferred)
- Pursuing or possessing a current and active professional certification from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (i.e. CCEP or CCEP-I).
- Experience in report development experience, policy and procedure development experience, preferably industry related.
- Knowledge of industry regulatory standards.
- Excellent analytical, written, and oral communications skills.
- Experience in developing effective business presentations.
- Excellent spreadsheet, internet, PowerPoint, and word-processing skills.
About the Job
- This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Required Travel: Rare, usually within the GTA
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $75,00-$85,000. This is a pay grade 5B role, with a salary range of $60,684.73- $92,511.96. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

The Ontario Cannabis Store is a Crown agency solely owned by the Province of Ontario and reporting to the Ministry of Finance.
The OCS provides safe, responsible access to legal recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We are Ontario’s sole wholesaler to more than 1,500 Authorized Cannabis Stores. The OCS also operates OCS.ca, the Province’s online cannabis retailer which delivers to consumers in every corner of Ontario.
We make sure our customers only receive legal, clearly labelled cannabis products by working closely with a diverse group of Licensed Producers authorized by Health Canada. Our online store prioritizes education and provides many opportunities for both new and experienced consumers to learn more about cannabis and responsible use.
