Facilities Services Surrey is responsible for the stewardship of the Surrey campuses lands and buildings. Our focus is primarily maintaining buildings, grounds, utilities, and equipment, as well as providing custodial services, event setup, and waste management. Our department plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and comfortable operation of SFU's physical spaces.

About the Role

Provides support and assistance to the Facilities Coordinator with room and event setups, mail room duties, and monitoring and maintaining the facilities at the Surrey campus. Arranges table and chair configurations; receives and delivers mail and commodities; investigates building maintenance problems and performs minor repairs; inspects campus areas and reports deficiencies; organizes the inventory of campus assets; and liaises with internal and external contractors.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualities or core competencies to be successful in the role:

  • Some experience in general maintenance with ability to operate common tools.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve minor maintenance issues.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
