About the role
Location: Diavik Diamond Mine, Northwest Territories
Rotation schedule: 14 days work / 14 days off
This role is critical for WebGen integration at customer sites and the provision of ongoing services. Role is accountable for managing the safe and reliable implementation of WebGen Service which includes Risk Management, Customer and Internal Communication, Forecasting & Inventory management, Data Management, WebGen enhanced blast designs, supervision of the loading and firing of the blasts, Troubleshooting and Equipment Maintenance, Progress and KPI reporting and customer relationship management.
What you will be doing
Implementation of the WebGen Supervisory Service contracts at customers sites, this role is responsible for:
(1) Safety Leadership - As a technical leader within the region and customer’s site this role will:
- Adhere to Orica’s and the customer’s Safe Operating Procedures & champion SHE initiatives relating to technical services and blasting related activities.
- Risk Management (Orica’s and the Customer’s) through the provision of the WebGen Supervisory Service.
- Ensuring all risk management processes (CSRR/AA/RA/Inductions) are undertaken for WebGen including for any variations in design or implementation.
- Encoding of the WebGen primers and ensuring through direct supervision that the correct WebGen primer is loaded into its correct blast hole.
- Direct supervision for firing of WebGen blasts ensuring correct firing procedures including customer sign-off of correct blast files are followed.
- Management of WebGen firing equipment and securing the firing keys.
(2) Responsible for Customer and Internal Communication for the provision of the WebGen Supervisory Service
(3) Drill/Blast Design and Data Management for use of WebGen.
- Complete or support the customer’s D&B Engineering department with blast designs relating to the use of WebGen.
- Data management and control for blast design, logged and fired are uploaded and stored as per NPM WebGen blasting procedures.
(4) Troubleshooting and Equipment Maintenance.
- Ensuring high levels of reliability of the WebGen system the role will be responsible for identifying and rectifying issues including the management of maintenance of the firing equipment.
(5) WebGen usage forecasting and site inventory control.
(6) Progress and KPI Measurement.
- In Field measurement of Key Performance Indicators that support the business case for the use of WebGen.
- Provision of regular progress reporting for the customer and for Orica.
(7) Continuous Improvement.

Identification and evaluation of new ideas for applications of WebGen.
Profile description:
What you will bring
- Mine Planning background 2+ years
- Blasting experience in mining (preferred underground) 2+ years
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mining, Civil, Survey, Geology or similar field)
- Project Management skills
- Beginner or intermediate knowledge of Shotplus™, AutoCAD, Deswik or similar mine design software
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Well-developed troubleshooting/problem solving and investigative capabilities
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
