Description Title: Member Service Representative II (Term approx 12 months)
Position Close Date: Until Filled
Location: Grandview, MB
Basic Function The position is responsible for responding to member client inquiries and taking action to reconcile discrepancies in records and accounts. Routinely receives and pays cash or other negotiable items, is responsible for custody, balancing and security of cash, maintains assigned cash limits and balancing of daily transactions. Performs a variety of routine accounting functions including the reconciliation or balancing of subsidiary ledgers and general ledger reports. The position responds to member client inquiries on all branch products and services and identifies opportunities to cross sell or refer sales opportunities to other staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain custody of cash drawer and daily cash holdings and reconcile cash on hand.
- Receives cash and cheques for deposit, verifies amounts and examines cheques for endorsement and processes transactions.
- Cash cheques and withdrawal receipts within discretionary limit, paying out money after verifying signature and checking for coverage.
- Process other transactions as requested by member clients including transfers, utility payments, loan payments and credit card advances.
- Assist members with more complex financial inquiries and/or problems such as certification of cheques, setting up stop payments and holds.
- Order/process personalized cheques.
- Identify opportunities to promote, up-sell or cross-sell all credit union products making referrals when necessary.
- Respond to member inquires, both in person and by telephone as determined by the branch organizational structure by responding to member needs.
- File reports, and other credit union documents as required.
- May hold second combination for branch vault, treasury, night depository or ATM, keeping security of combination at all times.
- May be responsible for reconciling utility payments by balancing accounts and preparing appropriate remittances.
- May process remittances by balancing account, remitting funds to CUCM and scanning remittances.
- May process incoming and outgoing wires and update records.
- May process postdate items from post dated box.
- Administrative and shared functions may be rotated to ensure cross training.
- Other duties as deemed necessary and directed by your immediate supervisor.
Educational Requirements
- Preference will be given to those with Post Secondary Education and candidates with a proven track record in credit union/financial institution environment.
- Minimum grade 12 education and 3 years cash experience or an equivalent combination.
