About the role

The Injury Prevention Research Office is looking for a Research Assistant to support the research activities of the office. The Research Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting with RCL IMPACT and TRACE project. S/he will also help with recruiting study participants, data entry/analysis, and preparation of summary and progress reports as well as completing other research related tasks. The ideal candidate for this position is highly motivated, organized, team-minded, and results-oriented with excellent scientific writing skills. The Research Assistant will report to the Research Coordinator and PI.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant’s tasks will include:

  • To complete the data requisition from various data sources;
  • To complete the data collection or analyses based on the RCL IMPACT or TRACE research protocol and plan;
  • To prepare and submit a number of manuscripts to publish the RCL IMPACT or TRACE research findings on peer-reviewed journals;
  • To assist with other research projects such as pituitary, Acromegaly, CHIRPP, TFFK, etc.;
  • To complete other tasks as assigned (e.g. REB application for new studies or annual renewal of existing REBs; supervising summer students, preparing grant applications, etc) .

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate Degree or 1 year of relevant experience OR demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
  • Experience in R or other statistical software a must
  • Familiarity with cannabis law and regulations preferred
  • Experience writing research papers and proposals preferred
  • One year of relevant research experience preferred
  • Previous experience in protocol development, ethics proposals, grant and peer-reviewed manuscript writing, and making presentations to scientific audiences is preferred
  • An aptitude for accuracy and detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed
  • Willingness to travel between study sites if needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attendance record
