Heavy Duty Mechanic

Canoe Forest Products Ltd. is a busy plywood production facility located near Salmon Arm, BC, and produces superior quality Canadian softwood sheathing and specialty plywood products under the trademark  CANOE

 has distinguished itself as a premium quality plywood panel that is well recognized and valued throughout the world.

We are seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic

to join our team! Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will be part of the maintenance team within our manufacturing facility. This is a unionized position and is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement between Interior Forest Labour Relations Association and the United Steelworkers.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Ensure that all vehicles are maintained, including all changes to the applicable manuals
  • Conduct routine checks and operational maintenance required for mobile equipment
  • Investigate breakages and downtime items to recommend improvements in maintenance operations
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
  • Ability to use computer and diagnostic equipment as well as read manuals and schematics
  • Electronic ordering or parts
  • Maintain accurate records on all repairs and services
  • Must follow safe work procedures and practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Red Seal Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket
  • Experience of 2 years or more
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Current with all aspects of the mechanical instructional trade manuals
  • Must have the ability to do shift work
  • Ability to work individually with little or no supervision in a dynamic team environment
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities

WAGE:  $50.305 per hour as per the current United Steelworkers Collective Agreement.
