General Accountant
Job Summary
Provide services relating to compliance-based financial reporting, auditing, insolvency and accounting information systems, and advise on associated record-keeping requirements.
- Responsible for timely posting of month-end journals, including maintaining appropriate back up and audit trail.
- Responsible for performing month-end account reconciliations, including investigation and timely resolution of differences
- Perform daily bank account reviews and weekly bank reconciliations.
- Conduct multiple credit card reconciliations
- Reconcile & remit all applicable GST/HST and US sales taxes
- Assist with weekly payroll functions and ensure timely payments
- Calculate, reconcile, and report WSIB, EHT, and Source deductions
- Work with the accounting team in preparing year-end schedules and reports for the annual review
- Assist withthe preparation of supporting documentation for internal and external audits
- Assist in the documentation and monitoring of internal controls
- Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Skills
- Must have 5 years of experience
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), including advanced experience using MS Excel
- College diploma or University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline and/or equivalent applicable experience
- Proven working experience as a general accountant in a multi-currency environment
- Creating and meeting strict deadlines for reports each month
- Ability to prioritize work and work comfortably in an environment with multiple competing deadlines
- Ability to create great working relationships at all levels within the company
- · Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently.
- Process improvement experience is considered an asset
- Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills
