About the role
We are looking for 1-2 Personal Support Workers to assist our male employer who is non-verbal and in the end stage of ALS with all activities of daily living.
The successful candidates will have complex care experience, understand ALS and have ventilator experience.
Location:
- Richmond (Near Russel Sean Fitness)
Shifts & Hours of Work:
- 7 - 10 hour evening shifts available
- Friday, Saturday and Sundays
- Start time to be discussed with employer
- Must be available midday on weekdays for training
- On call for sick coverage
- To be discussed further with the employer
Compensation:
- $26.25 an hour for 2 training shifts
- $27.00 an hour after training
Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
- Daily personal care such as showering, and dressing
- Ceiling lift and sling lift transfers
- Tracheostomy care, ventilation as the employer is on a ventilator 24/7, cough assist, G-tube feeding and medication administration
- Use of manual chair
- Light house keeping duties such as laundry
Required Qualifications:
- Ventilator experience
- Complex care experience
- Non-smoking
- Wearing a mask
- Yearly Flu shot and Covid vaccines
- First Aid Certificate
- Caregiving experience
- Prop course and training
- Comfortable working in an environment with dogs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Health Care Certificate
- Valid Canadian Driver's license (Class 5, 7N, ect)
- Experience with lifts (Ceiling lift and Sling)
