About the role

About CGA

Carat Global Assurance is a globally accredited certification body that helps food, beverage, cosmetic, and consumer-goods companies earn labels that matter—Halal, Kosher, Non-GMO, Vegan, SQF, and more. Our mission: turn complex compliance into a streamlined process, delivering clients a competitive advantage so brands can scale with confidence.

Why This Internship Matters

Certification is often the key that unlocks new markets for growing brands. As our Business Development Intern, you will support the team that opens those doors—researching prospects, refining outreach, and capturing insights that drive multi-million-dollar deals. Expect meaningful work, a steep learning curve, and exposure to senior decision-makers inside and outside CGA.

What You’ll Tackle

Market Intelligence

Map emerging plant-based, functional food, and wellness categories across North America; identify high-growth targets.

Outbound Support

Draft first-touch emails, social messages, and one-pager briefs that speak to prospects’ compliance pain points.

Sales Enablement & Follow Up

Update pitch decks with fresh case studies and metrics; maintain the content hub for the BD team.

Pipeline Analytics

Track key metrics (open rates, meeting conversions, deal stages) and recommend optimisations.

Event Preparation

Compile pre-show target lists and post-show follow-up packets for expos such as Natural Products Expo West.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Food Science, International Trade, Marketing, or a related field (final-year or recent graduates welcome).
  • Communication: Crisp, persuasive written English; bonus points for French or Spanish.
  • Research Mindset: Comfortable digging through databases, news feeds, and LinkedIn to uncover actionable insights.
  • Organisation: Adept with spreadsheets, CRM tools (Salesforce a plus), and deadline management.
  • Curiosity & Ownership: You ask “why” before “how” and take initiative to solve problems proactively.

Internship Details & Benefits

  • Duration: Minimum 12 weeks
  • Format: Remote-first within the U.S. or Canada
  • Learning Perks:
  • Dedicated mentor from the BD leadership team.
  • Future Path: High performers may be considered for full-time Associate roles.

Demonstrate Your Fit

To gauge communication skills, please include:

  1. A 100-word email introducing CGA to a startup launching a new line of functional beverages. OR
  2. A short (≤45-second) voice note or video summarising why third-party certification can accelerate a brand’s retail expansion.
  3. (Links to cloud files are fine—no large attachments, please.)

How to Apply

Email admin@caratga.com with the subject line “BD Intern – [Your Name]” and attach:

  • Résumé or CV (PDF, 1 page preferred).
  • One of the two communication tasks above.
  • Available start date and weekly hours.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; early submission is encouraged.
