Course Description
This course is designed for students who understand elementary Mandarin or any Chinese dialect because of their cultural or family backgrounds. The course consists of mandatory lectures and tutorials. Students will learn a minimum of 550 characters. Students must go through a placement process conducted by the Department. Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I: $19,641.40 (includes 4% vacation pay) Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term = $21,020.07 (includes 6% vacation pay) Sessional Lecturer II = $21,020.07 (includes 6% vacation pay) Sessional Lecturer III = $21,520.55 (includes 6% vacation pay)
Please note that should the rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from the rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications
Completed MA in areas related to the course required or equivalent education combined with teaching experience; fluency in Mandarin required; ability to clearly communicate information required; willingness to replicate the pedagogy and evaluation techniques employed in the regular teaching of this course required;
Preferred qualifications
Ph.D. in areas related to the course preferred; experience in language teaching at the university level preferred with evidence of superior teaching evaluations.
Description of duties
Preparing lesson plans and lectures; delivering lectures; developing and administering grading, course assignments, tests, and exams; providing scheduled office hours for academic counselling of students;
