Our company is currently looking for a Reinsurance Underwriting Analyst in our Toronto office to execute reinsurance account management - related responsibilities in the preparation, conclusion, documentation, and administration of traditional reinsurance agreements with internal and external parties. We are looking for a strong candidate looking to develop in the area of reinsurance and embrace an environment of continuous learning, new challenges, and daily balance of detailed work and high-level strategy and relationship responsibilities.
Reporting to the VP Reinsurance Management NA, you will be working on developing and leading many aspects of the Reinsurance Strategy development and execution. This includes developing and managing relationships with the Business Units and working closely to build and execute reinsurance placements that meet the needs of the businesses.

What You Will Do
- Working closely with the VP Reinsurance Management, be positioned as an objective business partner, develop, and align treaty level reinsurance strategies, in conjunction with key stakeholders, to support our business strategy and plan in Canada. This includes treaty structural optimization and scope of cover.
- Helping to drive the execution of reinsurance agreements, which includes managing a data call process, communicating, and negotiating with reinsurance partners, contract development, execution, and documentation of reinsurance agreements.
- Works closely with Group Reinsurance and Canadian BU Analytics colleagues and utilizes their input and findings in the decision-making process.
- Collect and validate exposure and experience information from Business Units. Release data calls, perform quality control, and analysis of data received including aggregation of information for submission. Ensure data is suitable for external and internal treaty pricing purposes.
- Actively supports and promotes relationship management with the Business Units, and where applicable, supports the relationship management of attributed cedents, reinsurers, and/or reinsurance brokers.
- Captures treaty details in mainframe system and works closely with the Finance team to ensure a smooth clothing process.
- Supports Treaty Premium Planning & Analysis
- Oversees treaty contract compliance.

- Experience working across business units/functions and collaboration in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, capable of engaging with high management levels.
- Proficiency and motivation in working with technical details.
- Strategic thinking capabilities
- Proficiency in influencing and negotiation (this can be developed over time)
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry area
Preferred
- Reinsurance experience
- CPCU or other insurance designation
- Strong analytics skillset (financial, modeling, etc. Ability and willingness to develop over time)
- Advanced knowledge of reinsurance contracts
- Negotiation and business partnering experience
