Position Overview

Ready to dive into the world of finance? Join our team as a Financial Assistant! Support our Finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, handling inquiries, and assisting with finance-related tasks. Bring your strong attention to detail and organizational skills while working collaboratively on exciting financial projects.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the selected candidate will assist in organizing and maintaining financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation. They will follow established filing systems and protocols to properly store and manage financial documents. The role involves supporting data entry, record-keeping, and document preparation, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of financial initiatives. The candidate will respond to general finance inquiries, maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information, assist in coordinating and preparing reports, spreadsheets, and other financial documents.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in or has recently completed post-secondary education in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. They will possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). The candidate must be able to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Previous experience in an administrative or finance-related role is an asset. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

This is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Qualified candidates must be:

  • Aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent Resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
