Job Summary: The Immigration Caseworker plays a crucial role in supporting clients through their immigration journey. Working under the supervision of a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or Immigration Lawyer, the Caseworker is responsible for preparing and managing immigration applications, communicating with clients, and ensuring accurate and timely submission of documents. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a deep understanding of Canadian immigration laws and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Communication & Support:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, answering inquiries and providing updates on their application status.
- Explain immigration processes, requirements, and checklists clearly and concisely.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and documents.
- Provide compassionate and culturally sensitive support to diverse client populations.
- Application Preparation & Management:
- Assist clients in accurately completing various immigration application forms (e.g., temporary resident visas, study permits, work permits, permanent residency applications, family sponsorships, refugee claims, citizenship applications).
- Review and organize client documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) requirements.
- Draft and prepare supporting documents and submission letters.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files, including detailed case notes and data entry into relevant databases.
- Process and manage correspondence from IRCC and other immigration authorities.
- Monitor application deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
- Research & Compliance:
- Conduct research on immigration policies, regulations, and programs to stay current with any changes.
- Ensure all casework is conducted in strict compliance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and associated regulations, as well as ethical guidelines of relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., CICC).
- Administrative Support:
- Perform general administrative tasks related to case management, such as scheduling appointments, managing calls and emails, and maintaining office records.
- Prepare monthly financial and statistical reports as required.
- Collaborate effectively with lawyers, consultants, and other team members.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree
- Familiarity with IRCC forms, procedures, and online portals.
- Experience with client file management and maintaining confidentiality.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional Communication: Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
- Organizational & Time Management: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work accurately under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing documents and maintaining records.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to interpret legal requirements and navigate complex situations effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build rapport, empathize, and work effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with immigration case management software
- Adaptability: Ability to stay current with rapidly evolving immigration policies and procedures.
- Professionalism & Ethics: High level of integrity, discretion, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $55,840.73-$75,242.38 per year
