About the role

JOB STATEMENT:

The Senior Director, Operations is responsible for management, leadership, and development of the Operations team. This includes applying business strategies and objectives to ensure that direct reports and functional teams are aligned to meet and exceed the goals and SLA’s for our CIRO back office, with a focus on IIROC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Managing, motivating, coaching and developing the Operations team, which includes instilling an attitude of owning the problem at all levels within the Operations department
  • Understanding, translating, communicating, and applying business strategies and objectives, ensuring that direct reports and functional teams are aligned to overall strategy, objectives, and best practices
  • Creating a service first environment, focused on providing superior client experience to our advisors and partners
  • Developing and building strong productive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Leading and participating in executive level business and technology discussions
  • Participating in corporate conferences and industry events
  • Solving complex issues that are high impact to clients and working closely with managers and senior managers to ensure clear communication and handoff points to impacted departments and stakeholders
  • Developing and implementing Advisor/Branch efficiencies within the Worldsource network
  • Analyzing the corporate structure and assisting in creating operational efficiencies within each area with the objective of reducing expenses
  • Managing, planning and projecting the departmental budget to ensure that departmental and corporate objectives are met
  • Participating in corporate strategic planning and developing strategies to implement initiatives; and
  • Developing and implementing Operations policies and procedures to facilitate the achievement of financial and operational objectives

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of demonstrated Dealer Operations Management experience at a financial institution supporting CIRO management with a focus on IIROC, coaching and team leadership skills

  • 10+ years in a leadership and people management position with proven experience developing a strategic succession plan that fosters growth opportunities and provides career development through daily coaching and mentoring

  • Exceptional problem solving, partnering, decision making and critical thinking

  • Deep expertise in Settlements, Trading and/or Corporate Actions and proven experience meeting SLA’s

  • Remaining current on legislation governing registered products, securities, and mutual funds

  • Successful completion of the PDO course and the CSC

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, Dataphile considered an asset

  • Excellent decision-making, prioritizing, change management, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally

  • Fluent communication skills in both English and French are required
