Manpower is seeing a dynamic Customs & International Logistics Specialist to partner their experience supporting our global logistics client, bringing their passion for continuous improvement and workplace optimization. In this 12 – 18 month contract , you’ll manage the operation of import customs functions and preparing custom clearance entries , according to CBSA guidelines and corporate policies.
Licensed Customs & International Logistics Specialist
Location: Alliston
Salary: $70,000- $80,000k / annum
Duration: 12 – 18 months
Terms: Hybrid remote
Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm

SCOPE
Responsible for application of due diligence to all customs regulations regarding import/export practices of the company, and identification and reduction of risks with regard to all aspects thereof, pertaining to Customs.
KEY FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Trade Compliance:
- Management of inquiries and responses from CBSA / CBP
- Evaluate and make recommendations on voluntary customs programs CSA, E-Manifest, PIP (partners in protection), CTPAT, CARM
- Maintain database of HS codes and provide classifications for internal use
- Research compliance issues regarding imports and exports from Canada and United States as they arise and implement compliant processes. Administration of Customs Brokerage License
- Administration of Bonds for Canada Customs and US Customs
External Clients & Customers:
- Ensure completion of all Customs declarations in required time frames
- Ensure entries prepared by associates have minimum duty applied
- Monitor to ensure correct classification has been used for any new parts
- Routine validation and management to ensure accuracy of all parts classifications
- Develop and monitor efficient workflow of CSA daily processes
- Complete special importer entries (i.e. rebates, diversion, tooling) on a monthly basis
- Address inquiries and requests as required
- Reconcile monthly RSF period, invoice and CBSA payment administration
- Provide support when required to analyze historical customs data and future trends
- Provide support to other associates performing customs duties. Complete customs releases and confirmation for all brokerage customers
Budgeting, Month End, Compliance & Logistics:
- Ensure that all month end sales, Cost of Sales, and Gross Profits are reconciled and reported
- Creating Customer Sales Plan and forecasts for budget by fiscal year
- Preparing quarterly budgets for sales and gross profit
- Ensure a reliable compliant customs department and records
- Support or train associates as needed to ensure all customs requirements are being met
- Review and adapt any current processes to create efficiencies, lower cost and improve customer experience
- Create quotations (ocean, air, rail, truck), and compliance paperwork (ie. Airway Bill, waybills, customs documents), ensuring correct packaging requirements and on-time delivery to end location are met
POSITION PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Business and/or equivalent experience
- Completion of CCS Designation, or working towards
- CIFFA accreditation (International Transport and Trade, Essential Freight Forwarding)
- Customs Professional status
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification (asset)
- ·Thorough knowledge of Canada Customs Broker Licensing Regulations and D memo referencing and classification
- Understanding of current customs initiatives (including CARM)
- Understanding of specialty steel requirements for customs (preferred)
- Understanding of OGD (Other Government Departments) requirements for importing in the automotive industry is required (i.e. steel permits and wood regulations)
- Knowledge of various Government departments and divisions and Regulatory Agencies and their structure and jurisdiction.
- Knowledge of the Excise Tax Act and regulations for GST & HST in regard to commercial imports for residents, non-residents, and the appropriate collection, pass thru, input tax credit, and exemption
