Maple Roots is an Out of School Care Company that operates in 6 schools across Calgary and Area. We believe in the child’s right to play, and that play should be child led. We provide a happy and safe environment where children can explore the world around them in their own way. Our mission is to provide meaningful, engaged and inspired service for children in the hours before and after school to support their growth and development. Maple Roots philosophy and mission has originated and adopted from the UK play work principles. These principles establish the professional and ethical framework of Play. We have formed a training partnership with PARS to provide extensive training containing theories, methods, and techniques which enable practitioners to articulate development and evaluation of their Play work practice. This training is delivered to all levels of Maple Roots employees with our in-house PARS trainer.
Our staff are our most valuable resources. Maple Roots strives to hire individuals who are committed to the profession. We are currently hiring for our Calgary SW locations, for the 2025-2026 school year. Hours will vary by site, but are generally split shifts such as Monday - Friday 7am -9:30am/3pm - 6pm.
We are looking for someone who:
· Is level 1,2,3 childcare certified. If an applicant does not have a level 1 childcare certificate, they must be willing to obtain within 6 months when hired.
· Valid First Aid
· Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector within the last 6 months
· Build meaningful relationships with the children in the program by actively supervising and engaging children with play opportunities.
- Be part of a professional team that is guided by the organization’s mission, philosophy, policy and procedures
- Be prepared to do any of the tasks required for indoor or outdoor activities
- Implement program planning activities in a fun and engaging manner
- Guide behavior and maintain a safe environment that is respectful to the children’s strengths and needs
- Complete cleaning responsibilities daily and as needed
