Civil Engineer
About the role
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Civil Engineer, Projects to join our Vancouver-based client , a leading international gold producer with operations across Africa, Asia, and the Americas to. This role offers the opportunity to shape civil design and construction planning for global mine site infrastructure projects, from early-stage development through to closure.
This is a full-lifecycle role with global reach. You'll provide engineering oversight and strategic input across mine infrastructure projects in diverse jurisdictions — from the Arctic to West Africa. Ready to take your career global? Responsibilities:
- Lead civil engineering input for mine infrastructure including roads, camps, workshops, drainage systems, and waste rock facilities
- Develop full-scope project and construction plans, technical design criteria, and environmental considerations
- Oversee engineering consultants and manage project studies aligned with NI 43-101 standards
- Produce phased construction schedules and capital cost estimates at conceptual to detailed levels
- Prepare technical documentation, memos, reports, and stakeholder presentations
- Support environmental initiatives including GHG estimation and sustainable infrastructure planning
- Maintain communication with on-site construction teams and project stakeholders
- Participate in permitting, due diligence, and M&A assessments as needed
- Travel internationally to active and developing project sites (~30% of time)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience, with a strong background in construction and site-based roles
- Registered P.Eng. (or equivalent designation)
- Previous experience in mine site infrastructure design and construction
- Strong technical reporting, cost estimating, and communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and engineering project tools
- Able to manage projects independently, while collaborating across teams
Bonus if you have:
- Experience working in remote or high-complexity jurisdictions
- Prior exposure to environmental and carbon-impact analysis
