About the role

Child & Youth Worker, 7th Inning Program

(40 hours/week, Contract for Sept 2, 2025-June 26, 2026)

Langs was established as a community development project in 1978 by a group of citizens and service providers concerned about the lack of accessible services in the community. Langs has grown to become a dynamic, respected multi-service organization that uses a community development approach to provide comprehensive health, social and recreational services that are responsive to the changing needs of our community.

What We are Looking For:

We are currently recruiting for a Child and Youth Worker to join our Community Services Team for a full-time position. This role is responsible for providing daily classroom supervision and individual support to 7th Inning Students, an Education and Community Partnership Program

A successful candidate in this role would have

  • Degree or Diploma in Child/ Youth Services or a related field

  • Experience working with youth, preferably in an alternative education setting or an Education and Community Partnership Program

  • Experience in planning and facilitation of community recreation programs/ after school programs.

  • Experience working with high-risk youth

  • Strong conflict resolution and management skills

  • Highly developed program planning, group work, and organizational skills

  • Valid drivers’ license, reliable vehicle with valid insurance is a requirement and willingness to obtain F-Class license

  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development training and Safe Food Handling Certificate would be considered assets.

In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks at an intermediate level

· Providing daily classroom supervision up to 10 students in grades 7 and 8 with suspected and diagnosed behavioural and/or mental health challenges

· Facilitating drop in and after school programs as needed

· Designing and implementing life skills programming, outings, and community service work.

· Conducting intake and outreach within schools and the community.

· Helps co-ordinate student reintegration into the school system.

· Participating in parent/teacher conferences and student case conferences

· Supports and connects caregivers with community resources

· Designs and implements behavioural guidelines and facilitates goal setting with students.

· Completes various administrative duties.
