POSITION TITLE : ELECTRONICS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN/TRAINER DEPARTMENT: NWSCC LOCATION: NORTH BAY SECURITY CLEARANCE: SECRET POSITION REPORTS TO: NWSCC OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR About Us Nasittuq Corporation (from the Inuktitut word meaning “looking out from the highest point”) operates and maintains the North Warning System (NWS), a vital Canada-US radar network consisting of 47 sites across Northern Canada the NWS provides continuous aerospace surveillance to detect airborne threats in the northern region.
Our operations include a head office in Ottawa, a Support Centre and Control Centre in North Bay, ON. The Control Centre functions 24/7 within the NORAD Region/Sector Air Operations remotely monitoring and controlling all 47 radar sites. Our technicians work closely with the crews across the northern sites to ensure system reliability, supporting both Canadian and US armed forces personnel in their mission-critical operations.

What You'll Do
- Assist in the maintenance of NWS systems, including but not limited to, data/voice communications, multiplexers, satellite/RF communications, AN/FPS-124 Radar, AN/FPS-117 Radar, router-based IP networks, helicopter monitor, bulk encryption devices and SCADA systems.
- Provide technical support to LRR Electronics Maintenance Technicians, NWSCC Crew Technicians and LCMM/Engineers
- Develop course training standards according to SOW requirements. Updates equipment/systems training material when required.
- Determine course content according to objectives.
- Prepare training material (presentations, worksheets).
- Execute training sessions, webinars, workshops etc. in groups or individually.
- Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.
- Assist in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operation.
- Provide feedback to the Technical Services department on minor modifications, additional work projects and maintenance task reviews.
Education Who You Are:
- Completion of postsecondary program in an electronics field or CF military equivalent.
Certificate(s) / License(s)
- Standard First Aid trained with CPR Level A (with a valid certificate) would be an asset.
- Hold a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license, or provincial/territorial equivalent.
- Must already hold a Level II (Secret) Clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience on the job training working with telecommunications/electronic systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications, RF, satellite, radar, and Router network systems, with ability to read and interpret related drawings and manuals.
- Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuits.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience developing and conducting technical training would be an asset.
- Holding a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) would be considered an asset.
