Financial Controller – Semi-Trailer Sales & Leasing

About the Role

Our dynamic finance team is looking for a Financial Controller to join us at our Breslau location. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our financial statements and our legal compliance.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
  • Oversee the creation of budgets, forecasting financial performance and analyzing variances between actual and expected results
  • Maintain internal control systems to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Manage the company’s general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure that the annual audit is completed successfully, addressing any concerns raised by auditors, and implementing any necessary changes.
  • Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure there is enough liquidity for day-to-day operations and long-term projects.
  • Ensure that the company adheres to Canadian federal and provincial tax laws, preparing monthly HST returns and other related statements
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improving profitability and efficiency.
  • Ensure that the company complies with all relevant accounting and financial regulations and standards (ASPE)
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team, managing performance, and ensuring the team is well-trained and motivated.

What we’re looking for:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in professional accounting or finance roles.
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, auditing and tax compliance.
  • Strong understanding of ASPE.
  • Proficient and adaptable to ERP systems and Excel.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Relevant industry experience is an asset.
