About the Internal Audit team

The IA team, primarily based in Vancouver, supports the firm’s global operations by providing independent assurance across a wide range of risk areas. As a central function with firm-wide reach, the IA team offers valuable exposure to diverse business processes and strategic initiatives. Joining the team presents an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their expertise, pursue continuous development, gain cross-functional insights, and contribute to strengthening the firm’s risk management and governance practices globally.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Plan, execute, and report on risk-based audits of IT processes, systems, and controls, including cloud-hosted environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and SaaS platforms.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of IT governance, information security, change management, data integrity, disaster recovery, and third-party oversight practices.
  • Assess compliance with internal policies, relevant regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct independent research on industry trends and provide consultative guidance to enhance operational resilience and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across IT, Risk, and Compliance functions.
  • Communicate audit findings and risk implications clearly to senior management and ensure appropriate follow-up on remediation efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement within the IA team, including innovation in data analytics, automation, and risk assessment methodologies.

Your qualifications & experience

  • Preferred qualifications include a background in technical fields such as Computer Science or Information Technology. Non-technical qualifications may also be considered, provided they are supported by relevant professional experience.
  • Ideally a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience, preferably within the financial services industry, with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following areas would be considered an asset:
  • IT general controls (ITGCs) and application controls
  • Cloud computing and SaaS platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure)
  • Applicable cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001)
  • Hold, or willing to pursue, a relevant professional certification (CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CCSP, CIA, etc.)

The Company

We are a global firm with offices across eight countries, over 400 employees and more than $40 billion in assets under management. But those numbers don't define Orbis. It's our values, how we do things day-by-day, and how we add value for our clients that define us.

Our investment philosophy is fundamental, long-term and contrarian. As contrarian investors, we aim to take a different perspective, and this filters into everything we do. To invest differently, you need to think differently. This is encouraged by having teams of people with different backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking.
