About the role
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing, the Senior Manager, Design and Creative Development, is responsible for managing the development and production of print and digital collateral for advertising, events, direct marketing, and promotional materials for United Way East Ontario. The Senior Manager is also responsible for leading the development of and application of the United Way brand “look and feel” across the organization and producing branded templates for use by all employees.
An experienced graphic designer with a knack for other creative production skills, this designer will contribute lead interdepartmental projects using the principles and tools of project management, contribute to creative ways of telling our story, coach and mentor other creative staff, including a direct report, and approve review visual materials across the organization.
This position also frequently leads, advises and contributes to national initiatives.
Key functions of this position are creativity and innovation, marketing, and quality assurance.
This position is a hybrid position with two days a week onsite.

Salary: $ 74,068
Responsibilities:
Creative Design, Project and Production Management

Consult and provide direction to the organization in the areas of creative design and production with a strong focus on creative storytelling.

Lead and manage the creation and production of marketing and communication materials, including social media assets, web, advertising (digital, Out-of-home, print, etc.), impact reports, direct mail, and event materials.

Providing direction and recommendations for other content production including photography, animation, and video production.
-
Manage UW’s visual identity standards in line with national brand renewal requirements; publish, distribute, update, and monitor and establish standards for our visual identity.

Oversee visual brand identity for various sub-brands and products locally and at national scale.

Ensure visual brand outputs are in line with the latest accessibility standards and laws.

Manage ongoing relationships with creative services suppliers (e.g. printers, designers, copywriters, photographers, videographers).

Providing direction and recommendations for other content production including photography, animation, and video production.

- Manage direct report and is responsible for assessing and prioritizing the workflow for the design team and external suppliers.
- Use their superior project management skills to oversee creative projects that integrate many stakeholders.
- Regularly review and update quality control practices, processes and tools to ensure high quality, error-free materials.
- With the Senior Director, evaluate efforts to ensure effectiveness.
- Lead adaptation of new tools and maximize use and efficiency of existing technology.
- Advise to improve the performance of marketing assets based on metrics and best practices.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Responsible for mentoring, training, and performance management of direct reports and temporary positions, such as student placements.
- Ability to support prioritization for design team, able to provide solutions for workflows, and set up the workplans for the team to support departmental and organizational objectives.
- Seek and introduce innovation in design, such as emerging creative production tools and artificial intelligence, all while balancing our commitment to strong ethics and support for community.
- Provide brand leadership and manage support to community partners and other United Ways via our commitment to system citizenship.
- Keep abreast of design trends and best practices. Share insights, ideas, and examples for inspiration and to provide direction for the MarCom team but also to support cross departmental projects.
- Lead and/or participate as a member of project workgroups in support of our department and organizational objectives.

Qualifications:
Education
- Post-secondary education in graphic design and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous upgrading of skills
Experience
- 5+ years of design experience in a marketing capacity (advertising agency experience preferred)
- 5+ year of Superior knowledge and demonstrated excellence in the production of graphic design using Adobe Design products
- 5+ Demonstrated track record of achievements in production management and creative development (campaigns, advertising, direct response, social, web, email, sales materials)
- 3+ years project management experience, preferably in a marketing and/or fundraising environment
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
- 1+ years of experience in photography and video production.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Highly creative with strong visual and copy-development abilities
- Knowledge of brand management, creative design, desktop publishing, new media, and printing and production techniques
- Superior knowledge and demonstrated excellence in the production of graphic design using Adobe Design products
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in graphic design, visual storytelling and marketing.
- Ability to work effectively and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment in decision-making
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience planning, implementing, and evaluating programs
- Ability to develop, organize and lead the implementation of plans, programs, procedures, and processes
- Ability to assess and manage risk, particularly to reputation/brand
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong leader, communicator, and mediator, with the ability to motivate a team and work as a member of a management team
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to inclusive practices and leadership
- Excellent relationship-building skills, demonstrated ability to collaborate productively with volunteers
- Strong presentation skills, ability to prepare and deliver persuasive presentations to people at very senior levels
- Flexible, adaptable, highly collaborative, and motivated
